Experts from the Hungarian Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (MEKH) held a virtual seminar on electricity and natural gas for employees of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA). The seminar lasted for two days.
Pal Sagvari, Vice President for International Affairs of MEKH, and Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the AERA Board, stated that Azerbaijan and Hungary are considered as strategic partners, and the mutual measures will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries. At the same time, it was noted that the exchange of views and holding seminars between AERA and MEKH can be a benefit for the implementation of further effective measures in the field of energy regulation as well as for joint projects.
During the two-day seminar the issues related to the energy market liberalization, general rules of the grid connection, existing infrastructure, monitoring of the regulatory activities, electricity and gas market structure, tariffs, quality regulation for electricity services, as well as natural gas market regulation and transition to clean energy were discussed and practices were shared.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between AERA and MEKH in November 2021. According to this Memorandum, the Parties agreed to exchange experience in the field of energy, hold mutual internship programs and seminars.
